Gods Political View

Think the Lord does not have a Political View…think again 🙂 .  The same God who precisely designs the heavens and earth…who gives all the animal kingdoms a unique DNA code that miraculously engineers them to their correct environment-has a design for our earthly government. He created the government for a purpose-but He also has seen their cruel injustices. He has grieved because of their abuses, is aware of the horrific wars-and has given mankind instructions on the correct government so we will avoid these grave mistakes created by ungodly nations.  See God In Science.

As with all important teachings, we start with a foundation.  The main lesson given in the Bible is restoring man’s relationship with God. When Adam and Eve sinned, we all inherited a sinful nature Rm. 3:23. The greatest sacrifice in this universe is the Father sending His Son to take our sins on the cross for us. The horrors of sin-the abuses, rapes, hate…including those in all the wars-Jesus took on the cross for us.  That is why it was so difficult to for Him to go to the cross-this was no ordinary death Lk. 22:42-44. The reason the Word does not emphasize a Biblical political view from cover to cover is that He desires an everlasting relationship with us, this is His eternal purpose.

John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

See How can I know God, Understanding the Christian God,  4 Things That Kept Me From Knowing God

To have mankind function correctly, however, The Lord has created certain institutions to run according to His design.  For the sake of clarity on the governing institution, we will only discuss God’s main institutions.
These include Government, Business, Church or Charities, Family and Support Institutions- Education, Music, Sports, Entertainment, etc.

In every society that these institutions have operated properly, under His design, the society has flourished. In every case-when society has disobeyed His design, the people received their fair consequences for their disobedience.

Deuteronomy 28:1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:

Deuteronomy 28:15 however, if you do not obey the LORD your God and do not carefully follow all his commands and decrees I am giving you today, all these curses will come on you and overtake you:

Two Opposing Political Agendas

To truly understand our current events, we have to seek out the ‘core belief’ or ‘agenda’ of all the correct political views.   At first glance,  the different viewpoints seem as numerous as the fancy names given to them.   The Bible however drastically simplifies the different political viewpoints.

There are two agendas given in the Word.  One is Righteous and Good (the Lords), the other is evil and promotes hate (satans)-explained later.  Since man is not perfectly obedient to God’s agenda, the individuals and countries’ dedication to Jehovah’s policies varies dramatically. The Lord understands this, so He has set up a political structure that differs in some ways from the government He will initiate when He returns. Let’s examine how the Lord establishes His major institutions.

Note: Please read to the end to see how the Lord desires ‘all’ the institutions to work together. If you do not believe in the Bible, you have a special ‘front row’ invitation-for this article in many ways is meant for you 🙂 . It is also important to note, that most people on any political issue do not directly adhere to God or the devils’ agenda, but many times naively follow what they think is best for them. That is why understanding God’s perspective is critical, it keeps our family, loved ones and country safe-under His divine blessings.

The Government

The perfect government would be one that is absolutely fair, just and caring for the well-being of all its people. This is the basic premise for all sincere viewpoints-and we have a universal agreement in this area.

The best way to achieve this would be to have a government that could accomplish its objectives (agenda)-quickly, decisively, with the greatest wisdom and the least deterrents.  We would need the most awesome, caring, righteous and wisest leaders in power-having absolute authority ‘all’ the time.
Praise God!, this is the government the Lord will establish when He comes back.

Isaiah 9:6-7 unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.  Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, … with justice from henceforth even forever.

Psalm 72:4 May he defend the afflicted among the people and save the children of the needy; may he crush the oppressor.

Without going too much into prophecy, the Lord will reign 1000 years over a world with a people who have not yet received their eternal glorified bodies. When one does commit a crime-violate someone, the Lord will be swift, and fair and deal with those justly.

Psalm 72:12-14 For he will deliver the needy who cry out, the afflicted who have no one to help.  He will take pity on the weak and the needy and save the needy from death.  He will rescue them from oppression and violence, for precious is their blood in his sight.  See Prophecy

We will also live in the greatest utopia ever given to mankind. It will be wonderful and I desire my family and loved ones to be there with me.

Isaiah 60:19 The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the LORD shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory.

Micah 4:3-4 And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. 4 But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid: for the mouth of the LORD of hosts hath spoken it. Is. 11:6 🙂

Why This Authoritarian ‘King’ Approach Will Not Work For Today

While this principle can be applied to all history, our British colonial connection clearly teaches of the terrors of a totalitarian government.  Our forefathers experienced kings and queens with abusive power, rulers who sought self-gain at any cost. Injustices from the top of government are the most difficult to correct because they usually possess the most power (armies) to protect them. That is why the Lord commands His people to continually pray for their government 1 Tim. 2:1-3.

The ‘root’ however of an abusive totalitarian government did not start with man, but with the original abusive power-satan-called Lucifer- before he sinned. As mentioned in the links below, satan desires a world government totally devoted to serving him.  See Root of Evil.  He will use those techniques he taught to other leaders involved in the occult, like Hitler, to carry out this one world government-commonly called a New World Order. See Hitler

Throughout history, there has been an evil agenda to unite the world under one tyrannical government. This is why power must be divided and checked.  Without an absolute righteous leader (the Lord) evil will pervert governmental power and will always make it abusive and self-serving. There has not been one historic example of kings, queens, dictators (or their descendants)- whose reign did not eventually turn totalitarian and abusive. This fact cannot be disputed.  Our forefathers knew better and established checks and balances to regulate power in government. They established a republic by .    See Understanding Global Corruption

“Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. ” Baron Acton

The Lords Government-Prior to His Return

Our founding fathers understood the lessons from the Word of God Deut. 28. They knew they could not give complete rule to a limited ‘elite’ so they broke up governing powers by limiting time in office, creating elections by the people and establishing different branches of the government to regulate one another.
They received their instruction from the Bible. When Nimrod united the world for evil, the Lord ‘divided’ the one government into nations-never wanting them to unite in a one world government without Him in control Gen. 10:8-9, 11:1-9.

He raises and causes nations to fall according to their obedience to Him; those that desire justice, fairness and devotion to ‘The Truth’ Deut. 28.  So, the original division (checks and balances) of governmental power started when the Lord divided the world into different nations that can be controlled by Him.

Job 12:23 He makes nations great, and destroys them; he enlarges nations, and disperses them. Acts 17:26, Deut. 32:8.

What About the Kings of Israel

Israel was a ‘theocracy’ and had the correct teaching from the one true God.  His government system however was ‘not’ to be governed by kings, but by the leaders of God, or judges.  The Lord knew kings would violate His people (as always) and strongly warned them against having kings to govern them 1 Sam. 8.  He wanted the prophets-judges appointed by God to govern them for obvious reasons.

Judges 2:16-17 Then the LORD raised up judges, who saved them out of the hands of these raiders

Deuteronomy 16:18 Appoint judges and officials for each of your tribes in every town the LORD your God is giving you, and they shall judge the people fairly.

They would be ‘appointed’ both by God and man (righteous and fair), be in a position to be led by the Lord (not given to abuse) and replaced by God without the armies of man protecting them. God can obviously destroy the armies of man, but not to have kings (or a totalitarian government) involved in evil pursuits is always the preferred course of action Deut 28:15 .  Israel then, a theocracy-was to be government by Gods appointed prophets and judges and not by kings.  They suffered greatly by being disobedient to the Lord’s divine program for their government 1 Sam. 8:10-19, 1 Chron. 10

The Lords Modern Government

If we start building our understanding from a correct foundation the answers are not difficult to discover.  We desire a government that is fair, just and allows freedoms of the Lord’s other institutions. Governing officials are to be given authority, but not to the extent of being totalitarian. The authority always has to be given or taken away by

Simply, we have to understand the purpose of government. They have indeed been given such an honorable role by the Lord to ‘represent Him’ in fairness and justice.

John 10:34 Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your Law, ‘I have said you are “gods” ’?  Ex. 7:1, Ex. 4:16

To be honest, I am blown away by the ignorance of most of our governing officials.  Many do not have a basic understanding of their political role.
They are not to be a charity, nor a business, nor in any way replace the family. They are supposed to be ‘the judges’ to protect us Deut. 16:18.  They have a high position by the Lord…to rule the people fairly.  I am aware of only two instances where men are called gods…in the Word.  One, when we are born again and become children of God, and when He appoints rulers to His people in government-as stated above in John 10:34.   They are the ‘judges’ to the people  Gal. 3:26, Ps. 82:6, Deut 16:18

In other words, they are not the ‘players’ in society-like the families, businesses, teachers, etc. but the umpires. They are given by God to protect the players so they can accomplish their God-given task.

1 Peter 2:13-14  Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human authority… who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right.  Rm. 13:1, Titus 3:1, Jn. 19:11

If a business is polluting the water, the government is to stop the pollution. It does not however hinder businesses that are not truly harming the environment. If a father is abusing a wife or child, they are to protect the family without infringing on our rights given by God for the institution of the family. If a religion is teaching-go murder another religious group-and is planning to carry out this death threat-stop the murder but do not hinder the freedoms of religious institutions.

Stop and ask yourself!  Has there ever been a society that flourished if -communism or fascism replaced the ‘free’ business sector?   Or if a highly taxed social program replaces a restricted or persecuted church-where moral decay governs the land.  Hitler tried to replace the family with government-controlled youth camps-how did that workout?  All the above institutions should never be allowed to commit abuses,  but they can not be hindered or replaced by the government.

If we study the history of all major countries, the governments that allowed freedoms to all the above institutions were the countries that ‘all’  the people benefited in their society.

Without question, no government is successful if we do not allow ‘ALL’ of the Lord’s institutions to thrive-to work effectively within the areas they were designed by God.   I personally believe when we eradicated the evil governments in WWI, WWII-the Lord blessed the USA more than any other country in the World.  Our above institutions were operating in the correct manner individually and in unity with each other…and many Americans were following the statutes of the Lord. The is the formula of success for any government

2 Chronicles 7:14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chron. 6: 37-42, Deut. 28:15.

Function of Other Institutions

Nowhere in the Word of God does the Lord teach to eliminate the business institution.  By nature, the business sector is competitive, focused on its preservation-and generally looks after ‘self’.  The results however are highly successful.  Waste is usually minimal and production is generally maximized under a competitive business approach. Here again, if the business is abusing child labor-the government as an ‘umpire’ can step in and correctly ‘judge’ the situation.

The government however was never designed to compete in the business sector and has failed miserably when they do. The government approach to business is really not that complicated to understand. Don’t hinder them with excessive taxes or regulations, promote business whenever possible and stop the verified abuses.  Like Trump or not, in a very short time, this approach is already demonstrated a dramatic response in the business sector.  See Why Socialism is So Dangerous,  24 Scriptures Concerning Business.

While the business sector is competitive and at times… self-seeking, the church or charity is designed by the Lord to be completely different.

Matthew 5:44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,

They both are designed however to operate in unity with one another-to co exist and balance out one another.

I think of many great businessmen and women who had the character of Christ and operated in ‘both sectors’ successfully.  They were fantastic in the free market, and knew how to run a successful business fairly and profitably. They made no bones about this, they wanted to make money to provide for their families and help the community.  While they were just in their business dealings, they did have the ability to make extra income which with donations given back to their community.

The union of local charities working with those willing to donate their time and income has a greater discernment on giving fairly, avoiding individuals who are taking advantage of others-those who are able and can work.  An illegitimate charity run from Washing DC cannot distinguish between local individuals who truly are in need and those who are taking advantage of ‘freebies’ designed for people who genuinely could use the help.

Likewise, if the charity or church has been weakened by the government restrictions and persecutions, the business then reflects a ‘gangster’ mentality.  In Russia, the church was persecuted and hindered for decades.  When the freedoms for businesses were moderately restored, the government went from Communism to free enterprise in the private sector. When this happened, there was not a healthy church or charity to counter the ‘self-gain’ business approach created by a weak church. There was not a moral base to balance the ‘make more money’ lifestyle.  The answer however is never to eliminate God’s institutions but to create an environment where they can work in harmony with one another.

Important Note: Contrary to what many think, Christians do not want laws to make a religion or Christianity mandatory. While we do promote healthy lifestyles (see family, and cultures below), a forced religious state is utterly a disaster. The church went from a persecuted church to a government organization in 300 ish AD, when Constantine ordered his men to cross rivers to be baptized. While ‘freedom’ of religion is so very precious, state mandatory religion in the Roman empire made its leaders corrupt by fighting for state funds. It also made the church void of the Spirit by following man’s traditions. The personal relationship with the Lord was greatly hindered, and for all practical purposes, the Spirit ceased to exist in the state-run church.

Jeremiah 29:13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

We are still trying to recover from this religious system initiated by the state  See 1st 4 articles on Kingdom of God.   As Jesus fought the hypocrisy in governing religion with the Pharisees, we do not desire to return to this system Matt. 23:27.  The consistent message is this, we need a government that allows ‘all’ institutions to flourish simultaneously within their correct sphere of influence.

The family is the closest example of the relationship that the Father, Son and Holy Spirit have in heaven.  Satan has desired to destroy this by whatever means available. He has a many-sided approach. Hitler wanted to take teach the children that government has priority over ‘family’  See Hitler

One might say the government does not have the authority to dictate morals. Really?? Then it’s ok for a 12 old to be raped in marriage by an older man, as is allowed in other countries. How do we define a family?   Two, three, five adults in a marriage? What about children’s rights. Why can’t they choose to use drugs at any age, have sex with others at any age?  We know why they need to be protected and are not capable of making adult decisions that will hurt them.  Simply, the correct political viewpoint for the family is one that protects what the Lord has designed  See Same Sex Marriage Pt. 1, Pt 2,  See Hope For The Family

Support Institutions in Our Culture

There are other intuitions in our culture that are important and need the support of our government. The government should allow freedoms to institutions of education, music, sports, entertainment, etc., but as mentioned in the family above, ‘the people’ have the right to govern these institutions.

I grew up in a ‘dry community’ without bars on every corner. While this can be a disadvantage to those who drink socially…the neighborhoods however thought the benefits outweighed the negatives.  The community simply has the right to decide. We can ask, does the community have the right to restrict music groups that promote suicide and death? What about the killing of our police?  We must understand that we as citizens have the right to stop and restrict behavior that is detrimental to those we love.  Freedom of speech is critical-vital-but never was meant to destroy our youth and our community.  This principle applies to education, entertainment and all other cultural institutions.

Summary-Gods Political View

It would be wrong to ‘label’ God’s political view in one term or another. The emphasis in the Bible is for man to receive eternal life. It mentions how to achieve our inheritance in the Lord within various types of governments, including those that persecuted the church. Our ‘heavenly kingdom’ is the Lord’s top priority Jn. 18:36.

If however we have the opportunity to follow the Lord’s design, by all means, it is critical to do so. The government was designed to allow and protect all the institutions mentioned above. It is the umpire and not the player. Government officials are given such an honor, the Lord Himself calling them His representatives of justice for the people Jn. 10:34.

The official extent of government policies will vary.  Most countries want to include an army, roads, national museums and parks, etc. In the US, many libertarians believe (in my opinion-wisely) that the breaking up its power, -should be continually divided between the 3 federal branches (executive, judicial and legislative), with powers to also be distributed to the states and counties until the Lord’s return.
The Lord divided the powers by nations, controlling their rise and their fall, until He returns as the ultimate righteous, just and fair leader. We should never allow a one-world government Job 12:23, Acts 17:26, Deut. 32:8. See World Corruption

Understanding how corruption works in the government is why we believe in the right to protect ourselves so seriously. History absolutely verifies this truth. So we support the right of the public to bear arms to protect themselves.

We are defined as a republic and not a strict democracy. Without getting sidetracked by terminology, we believe obeying the laws of the land ( and laws from above) is called a republic. We are not a strict democracy, where the majority vote (mob rule) can unjustly rule a minority.

We support the politicians who truly understand the above policies of freedom. Those who genuinely uphold the decrees to maintain our freedoms. Thus, we have to distinguish true libertarian governors from those who are dedicated to protect and uphold the Constitution and Bill of Rights. This is a true sign of their sincerity to our national freedoms…allowing all the Lord’s institutions to work in liberty.  See The Founding of Our Nation  ,-See Paul Harvey Explains It All 1965

What Then is the Correct Political View that the Lord Endorses

We recognize this world has a righteous and evil agenda.   See Root of Evil.   The Lord’s righteous agenda will one day have absolute rule. The Lord is purposefully postponing this rule-for when He judges satan, He will also judge the lost-and He wants as many to be saved as possible 2 Peter 3:3-9.

Any agenda that attempts to replace such institutions as businesses, churches or charities-family etc. with the government is not the correct political view. The current views then that support
-the use of government charities (i.e. government welfare programs-government social programs or forms of social government), -or-
– government business take-overs (ie. government bailouts, repossessions, or government over involvement in business is not the correct political viewpoint.
We are not saying these government programs are necessarily evil, but are not effective and will end in failure. Wisely replacing welfare-social programs with local charities and the church is the Lords answer to any ‘socialist’ program or government.  Communism and Socialism (government control of the business sector) never have worked or will ever work.  Are there possible temporary exceptions-yes-the Lord can bless a country where it can-at times- give funds back to its people (In fact, I would love for Trump to start a think tank to possibly incorporate a year of Jubilee-complete debt relief of our economy as in the Old Testament Lev. 25:8-22).     It is always dangerous however to deviate from God’s design that He has set for the institutions within the nations.

Thus, any viewpoint then that supports the correct role for government (a fair umpire or judge), promotes the checks and balances to prevent government corruption, allows all the Lords institutions to flourish and coexist together is the correct and Godly political view. We must remember however, no political view will work without the blessing of the Lord, we must as a nation humbly and in diligently follow His ways.

Jeremiah 29:11-12 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.  Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.

God bless you as you search for His truth 🙂
