If You Were God for 1 Day, You Would Discover

An invitation for those who disagree with or who are not familiar with the Christian viewpoint.

As mentioned in other articles, I used to enjoy quarreling with Christians until I became one.   Over time however, I discovered many of my ‘strong’ arguments against them were not at all logical or correct if God was truly an ‘Absolute Being’-as many would describe Him to be. See 4 Things That Were Keeping Me From God

To be frank, the purpose if this article is not to instantly convert all who disagree with the Christian message.   While that would be a fantastic outcome, we understand many won’t consider Christianity an option until they understand the ‘whys’ of the very unique Christian viewpoint.

For those who disagree with Christianity, as you read this article I am going to ask you to do something that I consider very difficult.   If you find reasonable Biblical explanations to important life issues -than what you had a prior bias against-to be open and consider this viewpoint as a legitimate solution given to us by God.   Openness to any truth is better than blatant denial-where issues are never resolved.   We all have known individuals who continually walk away from the obvious solution-and at times the consequences can be heartbreaking.  See Being Open to the Truth.

IF YOU WERE GOD FOR 1 DAY, YOU WOULD DISCOVER

That Perfect Means Perfect, and Absolute Means Absolute

When I debated with Christians, I honestly did not have a clear understanding of what it meant for God to be ‘absolute’ in anything.   These Divine Qualities-what some term His Divine Attributes-or His Nature not only defines who God is-but also explains most of the misconceptions about Christianity.

We cannot comprehend heaven or hell, or His purpose for demonstrating His Divine  Love-without understanding how His different attributes work within His character.  One by one, we will start to see the Lord is complete in ‘all’ areas.   We will begin to realize one attribute like Divine Love cannot cancel out other Godly attributes like righteousness or justice-explained later.

What the Absolute Christian God is Not

Praise God, the Creator of this heavens and the earth is not limited or imperfect-as we see in the tales of the Greek gods.   If this were the case, a Righteous Loving God could actually lose a war with an evil god or opponent, as many religions adhere to.   An absolute God would also be holy and completely sovereign –and by reason, this would be the truest definition of God-a Supreme Being.   His perfection and infinite qualities could not be altered, which becomes extremely important to understand as we shall see later.   Simply stated, absolute Divine perfection cannot change and become imperfect.   This ‘gap’ between the absolute infinite (God) and limited-finite character (man)  is what many of us  believe to be mans greatest misunderstanding of  the True God.

Note: We shall also see why the Biblical God delays His judgment on evil-in which many have incorrectly blamed on a righteous God.

His Divine Attributes or Nature

While the terminology for some the Lords divine qualities may vary,  almost all  Christians agree on His divine nature.   Certain aspects of God may be easier to understand than others…and since I ‘kinda understand’ some of the arguments from those in the non Christian camp (having been there) –a few personal comments are also included ? .

God is…

-All knowing (Omniscient).   In the age of computers, we can possibly imagine how this could be true.   While it can still ‘blow our minds’ that God can know ‘everything’ this is logical  divine attribute of a Supreme God.

1 John 3:20   For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things Ps. 147:4-5Job 37:16Lk. 12:7.

-All powerful (Omnipotent).    This will come into play later, but the Lord is more powerful that the evil you have witnessed in this world.   The Bible calls this evil darkness, and it has a king called satan.   Before this article is over, scripture will explain to us how God desires to use this power to eternally punish evil.

Revelation 19:6 And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth. Rm. 1:20Is. 44:24.

-Everywhere (Omnipresent). God can have form (ie Jesus), but is not contained to that form.   God is able to be found anywhere- at any location Ps. 139.   We are made in the image of God and at times-man can in a limited way understand His divine attributes.   Ever pray for someone and ‘see’ their situation, or know when a child or a friend is in need…you get the idea.   While we cannot be like God and be everywhere, in a limited manner we can at times comprehend parts of His nature.

Psalm 139:7-8 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?  If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. See all Ps. 139Jer. 23:241 Kings 8:27Col. 2:5.

-Eternal   Man is everlasting- he has a beginning but will abide forever-with God or apart from Him Matt. 25:46Jn. 3:18.

The Lord however is eternal, He created time and is not bound to time.    One preacher gave a great illustration, God is on a mountain above past (creation), present (real time-or clock time) and future-seeing eternity in one overview.

Psalm 90:2 Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.   Is. 40:28Ps. 90:2,  Is. 26:4

This perspective however does not mean He is unconcerned about our current circumstances.   He  is a compassionate  personal God.

Psalm 103:17 But from everlasting to everlasting the LORD’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children

-Never Changing (Immutable).    These next attributes explain what many (including me) did not understand about an absolute God.   God has given man instructions to follow His Sovereign ways.    Man however has the ability to be obedient or disobedient, or to change ( i.e. to walk in His divine truth or darkness) Deut. 28Jn. 1.

God although is bound to complete perfection-which includes His holiness, mentioned later.  The Lords absolute character does not change-nor is it able to do so.  Eternal absolute perfection cannot morph into the finite realm of created beings- those having  measurable abilities.

2 Timothy 2:13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.

Hebrews 1:12  But you remain the same, and your years will never end.”  Heb. 13:8.

Not understanding these next Divine qualities can cause man to be tragically be separated from God.

-Righteous.   This means God does not sin and has absolutely no evil within His being –or realm.   This particular attribute is sooo difficult to understand from mans perspective.   When Adam and Eve sinned, we inherited a sin nature (evil elements)-which became opposed to Gods nature

Romans 5:12  Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned Rm. 5:16

The 10 Commandments are not a pathway to heaven, but a sign post proclaiming that all mankind has sinned…

Ever told a lie (false witness 9th commandment), committed adultery (in the heart 7th  comm.), coveted anything or anyone  (this one convicted the apostle Paul 10th comm. Rm. 7:7-8), dishonor your parents (5thcomm.), replace God with the things of this world (1st comm.)   Bottom line, all men fall short of the righteousness needed to have a relationship with God Ex. 20:1-17.

Romans 3:23   for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

The great heavenly war is this…God is holy, and cannot abide eternally with those containing sin.

Habakkuk 1:13   Your eyes are too pure to look on evil; you cannot tolerate wrongdoing. Ps. 34:16

God has to respond to sin within the infinite qualities of His character.  The following divine attributes dictate how sin is resolved by an absolute Righteous God.

-Just   Another difficult concept for man to understand.    We cannot obtain absolute righteousness on our own (because of sin…above commandments), thus we stand before God guilty of sin.   This is critical.  Perfect Divine Righteousness can only fellowship with the like- Perfect Divine Righteousness.   Absolute righteousness demands vindication-punishment for evil-any evil.  Gods divine justice carries out the penalty for our evil-any of the above offences we have committed before God-as demonstrated in the 10 commandments.

Since mankind and angels are everlasting beings-as Created by God-these two sanctified attributes (Righteousness and Justice-some call His holiness) give way to Gods Sovereign  verdict -His everlasting punishment for our sin. Please read on to the divine solution!

This aspect of God, the Lords nature that is completely holy-I never considered while I argued with Christians.   Logically, an absolute Holy God-even though He loves us…cannot abide-accept or eternally habitate with sin.

Psalm 5:4-6 For you are not a God who is pleased with wickedness; with you, evil people are not welcome.   The arrogant cannot stand in your presence. You hate all who do wrong; you destroy those who tell lies. The bloodthirsty and deceitful you, LORD, detest.

How devastating is the verdict of Divine Justice-eternal punishment for our sin!   Thank You Jesus for Your next absolute divine quality!

If we were God for 1 day, we would discover ‘ALL’  of His attributes have infinite qualities, and they all have to be active or else He would not be God, the Supreme Being.  Only when we view God ‘logically’ in this manner, does the Christian God-we believe the true God-become understandable to man-His creation whom He loves.

Genesis 1:26  Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”

This verse explains that God gave man the most valuable everlasting gift-His divine nature.   Before sin, Adam and Eve were complete partakers as children of the Most High God Gen. 3  While they could not share in the full capacity of His glorious existence, He did however give mankind qualities in His Divine Image Gen. 5:1-2Gen. 9:6.   Gods Word declares He gave mankind the highest honor possible, the sharing of His  essence-allowing man to live within His divine character.   This free gift from God is a testimony to the Lords boundless Love for us.

John 10:10  The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it  abundantly.

Let’s Summarize the GOD-Man Relationship, Their Co-existence

1)  Man was made in the image of God, everlasting and without sin or evil-above verses

2) After man fell due to sin,  all mankind inherited a sinful nature  Gen. 3Rm. 3:23Gal. 2:19Ex. 20: 1-17.

3)  God is immutable (never changing) in all His Divine attributes

4) His absolute Righteousness requires a punishment for any sin or evil,  His absolute justice carries out this verdict.   Since man is an everlasting creation and  unable to  overcome sin…we stand guilty before  a  Holy God.   Therefore, we receive everlasting punishment for our sin.

As we have seen, the Lords other divine attributes have to be accounted for.   Without Gods provision, His love for us-we naturally and justifiably retain our sin and acquire it’s due punishment forever…wow!  In short, a completely Holy Nature cannot abide with a nature that is unholy-containing sin.

Love this part though.   Check this out, Gods love will literally blow you away!!

See How Much Does God Love Us

Simply, to restore man from sin, God needs to restore man back to His Godlike qualities-without sin.  Divine qualities however cannot come from man, but from God.

So God did something for man that was ultimately the most difficult and painful experience in all eternity.

He asked His Son, to leave His side in the glorious heaven…to become as man…our representative  Heb. 1-2Is. 7:14.   Included with the request, was to take (experience) every sin since the creation of time.  Mans horror.   The hate, abuse, sexual violations, sickness, war injustices etc.  Jesus  not only took our sins upon Himself, but also receivied His Fathers wrath because of them Is. 53:4-6,  1 Pet. 2:24Matt. 27:45-46

For Jesus to leave the boundless glory of His Fathers side, take on your sin, my sin… because of His great love for us-has become the eternal statement of Gods infinite love for man Ps. 110:1.   We now understand the Word teaches that His absolute qualities that are able to condemn our sin  also provide our rescue:   Proving His immeasurable love for us by having His Son experiencing the total wrath of sin.  There has been no greater trial of misery and sorrow than what Father and Son encountered on that cross!   The results, absolute forgiveness to those who by faith become children of the living  God  Ps. 51:7Is. 1:18Gal. 3:26

John 3:16  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Romans 5:8  But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Beloved, this is the only fix, it has to be a Divine Fix.   We sinned, to state it frankly, we were ‘toast’!

2 Corinthians 5:21  God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

As the Jewish nation had to ‘come under the blood sacrifice’ in order to be spared from Gods wrath (by faith), we also have to come under  the Lords covering by faith in Christ’s sacrifice on the cross Ex. 12:7-14   See the following illustration.

John 6:29  Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one He has sent.”

The above picture explains the process of Gods eternal love.

Jesus–our Divine Human representative – did not sin, satisfying the Fathers righteousness.

Christ dying for (taking our punishment for) our sin at the cross, satisfied the Fathers justice for  sin.

When we have faith in Christ (mentioned below) our sins die on the cross with Christ.  We become sons of the living God and become like Christ-our righteous delegate before God.    The Fathers sees His sinless Son- and all who receive His Son-as one with Christ.  As water baptism displays, those who have faith-their sins  died with Christ on the cross-but we also are raised with Christ for eternity-Praise God!  Phil. 3:9Jn. 1:12Rm. 6:8.

As all of the above truths about Gods absolute nature show us, we ‘have to’ restore our relationship the Lords way.   Gods Perfect Love cannot commit the sin of coercion-forcing anyone to receive Him.  It takes our faith, our response like a child to humbly receive Him Matt. 18:3.    See Open Heart to God-Video,  Predestination or Free Will.

John 10:9  I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture.

The Sovereignty of God

Most people would place the Sovereignty of God first and foremost-and in many ways they would be correct in doing so.   God has a right to do exactly as He pleases, and absolute authority has the sovereignty to rule without question.   Understanding that His Divine attributes also include total fairness, love, wisdom and holiness, makes His judgments worthy to be served-with fear and trembling Prov. 25:14.

The reason this divine quality was mentioned last however is because we see the world becoming more hostile to the things of God.   The closer we come to the final call of God, the more the world will be divided into 2 camps-the Lords and those who fight against Him.  See Prophecy

Unknowingly, mostly through public influence…many are increasingly opposed to the  guidelines of God that keep a nation safe from evil –as we have seen throughout history.  The purpose of this article was to show the ‘whys’ of Gods truths-so we could honestly work against the false bias in our lives-to seek the Lords true solution for eternal life.

As mentioned above, the Father sacrificed His holy Son to have the entire worlds evil poured out on Him.    This event produced both  the greatest suffering… and accomplished the most difficult task that has ever been achieved by anyone, anywhere-ever.   This my friends-is divine love. Matt. 27: 45-46.

My insult to this love was thinking-How can you Christians believe you have the ‘only way’, how prideful and judgmental.  I know too many loved ones who are also holding on their own bias-avoiding Gods solution for eternal life.   ‘How can they tell me how to live, who I can be intimate with, if I can have an abortion or not?  What right do they have.’ etc. etc.

In all the above examples the Lord is giving us guidelines to avoid sin so we won’t fall into the harmful consequences of sin…in order to protect us.   When we were children we all have had parents or caretakers who have tried to reach us, to protect us by giving us guidelines.   Are we really going to reject His infinite love for us-His sacrifice for us-by telling the Lord He does not have the right to give us healthy living guidelines to protect us     See Gods View

His Call

There is no other religious teaching that puts all mankind on an even scale-the murderer, the sex offender, the party lifestyle, the government official, the common Joe and the church elder.   We all have sinned and need Jesus as our savior Rm. 3:23.

The Lords first coming was to become a sacrifice for our sin.   On His second coming, He will judge the king of evil satan and all those who are found with sin, those who choose not to believe in the one who takes away the sins of this world  Jn. 3:17-18,  Is. 66:15-16.

The Lord is postponing the judgment of evil for one simple scriptural reason.   The Lord is being merciful, for when He comes back to Judge, it will be final and eternal-absolute.

2 Peter 3:9  The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise… Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

If you were sensitive enough to feel the call of the Holy Spirit and you desire to receive this eternal gift from God right now, please see this link.   Becoming a Child of the True God

For those who are about to leave without praying to the Lord in the prior link, at least do what I ‘had to do’ years ago.   The thought that ‘those Christians’ could possibly be right, that hell is real and eternal-was enough to influence me to pray.    Open the door to Lord and surrender our bias… that these scriptures could actually be from the One and True God.   Please join with me in prayer.

Lord Jesus, if you are real, I want to know.   Touch me and show me if You are the One True God…for I do not want to be in judgment for my sins for eternity.   Take any untrue and false bias against You, and show me Your divine truth.   When You show me Your truth-I will indeed follow You and make You the God of my life.

Just have to close and say God truly loves you…I can feel the Spirit right now reaching out to you in such a meaningful way.   I am sooo appreciative, the Lord will never leave you or forsake you as you walk with Him ? Heb. 13:5.
