Recently the Lord wanted me to understand the importance of His heavenly light-something that I also wanted to share with you. He wanted to emphasize how His light penetrates the darkness-like nothing else in this universe can.
Matt. 4:16-17 The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up. [17] From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. From Isaiah 9:2
While in prayer, I was shown a large hill or mountain, overlooking a city in a valley at night. The valley looked like many of us would imagine-or what we personally have seen while driving on a road beside a cliff at night. Standing beside me He explained how the darkness was overtaking the lights in the city. I was asked, if I could ‘shout’ down to them and try to explain the city lights to those in darkness….those that had never seen these lights-is there any way they could understand the darkness in their lives. I said no Lord, they could never understand what they have never seen or experienced.
I was then asked, if you walked down and personally went into the darkness tried to explain the city lights to them, could they understand then. Many of you already know the answer was the same, Lord they cannot understand what they have never experienced or seen, even if I went down into the darkness and tried to explain it to them personally.
John 1:4-5 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it
He then said…go make the lights in the city stronger-and multiply them, so that those in darkness can see this light-only then will they be able to recognize the darkness they are in. When the city lights become strong, not only will those in the surrounding areas see their darkness by this light, but the light will also be able to radiate out into greater areas of darkness like a light beam as you speak this truth. The whole key however is having this light become stronger.
Matt 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
He was explaining to me how sometimes my tendency is to ‘work’ His mission field without emphasizing His presence and light -this must be first and foremost when entering a city. I cannot enter a mission area unless we first establish a way to have His light pouring into the darkness first….through praise, prayer, advancing His Kingdom (see below) and a life disciplined to bring His light in our daily lives. For me personally, He was explaining that I need to devote myself to making the city lights stronger-and multiplying them-then the darkness will be diminished by His light. There simply no other way!
John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
He was basically saying, don’t ever attempt or try to go into the darkness without having the His light first established. For you, go down and make the city lights that are already there stronger-this will push the darkness back in the greatest way.
For those of you who know Him and have tasted His power and glory, I believe you will totally agree with this message. (Heb. 6:4-5). The concept of ‘bringing His Kingdom down’ by those scriptures mentioned in His Word Matt. 11:12-this message indeed goes ‘hand to hand’ with what the Lord is attempting to establish with His church. Please prayerfully review the scriptures in the first four articles in the site map under Kingdom of God, especially article 4 (It’s About the Power, Part 2). Let’s as a church unite to bring His glorious presence down and allow those living in darkness to see His great light. Praise His Name!
