Have you ever prayed and been so moved for someone’s well being that rivers of tears flooded the throne room of the living God. The Holy Spirit has shared that experience with you.
Romans 8:31 says ‘If God is for us, who can be against us?’ The next verse reads, ‘He who did not spare us His own Son, but gave Him for you and I
From the beginning of time, the Father not only gave us His Son, but also His Spirit-to give eternal life to man. The Lord desires deeply to share His great love for us-forever! (Ephesians 3:14-21).
Jn 14:16 And I will pray to the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, the He may abide with you forever….even the Spirit of Truth
Gen. 1:2-3 mentions Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters…. and God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.
Scripture shows us the Father and Holy Spirit working together to bring life to all of mankind.
The Father is the ‘architect’ of the universe, the Holy Spirit brings about ‘constructs’ His plans and desires (prior verse).
John 16:13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears (from the Father), and he will tell you what is yet to come.
Until the Father and Son reign in glory, when the curse of sin is no more, the Holy Spirit will be the representative of the Father in this dark world.
REV 22:3 No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him.
REV 21:23 The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp.
This is why Jesus says we can be forgiven when we sin against Him as a sacrificial lamb, but we will not be forgiven when we blasphemy the Holy Spirit (to rebel against the Fathers convicting light and truth from heaven Matt. 12:32, Mk 3:29).
John 16:8 When he comes, He (the Holy Spirit vs 13) will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment:
A few verses later, we see the purpose of the Holy Spirit for those who are in His light.
John 16:14-15 He (the Spirit-vs. 15) will bring glory to me (Jesus) by taking from what is mine and making it known to you.
All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you.
This verse is awesome. Let’s combine is with Ephesians 2:6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,
The Fathers purpose in the heavenly realms will be made know to us by the Holy Spirit because we are ‘positioned’ with Christ, who is at the right hand to the Father-Praise God. (Matt. 26:64)
Let’s ‘take to heart’ what the scripture is saying. As believers, we are seated with Christ in the heavens with the Father. The only way to see and experience this on earth however is through the Holy Spirit
(John 16:15 That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you). So, the only way to walk with the Father in heaven is to strengthen and fortify our relationship with the Holy Spirit. This is done by prayer and obedience, as demonstrated by Jesus.
Hebrews 5:7 During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission.
As mentioned in John 16:8, obedience in righteousness also comes by the conviction of the Holy Spirit.
John 16:8 When he comes (the Holy Spirit), he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment:
Simply put, experiencing anything for the heavenly kingdom comes through time and dedication with the Holy Spirit. We have to become radical. The purpose of the Holy Spirit is not only to bring the Fathers realm to us on earth, but to bring our spirit to the heavenly realm with the Father (John 8:28, Heb. 5:7).
HAVING THE HOLY SPIRIT AS OUR DIVINE PARTNER IN PRAYER
I can’t think of anything more wonderful than experiencing the intimate glory of the Father or Jesus. Moses’ greatest desire was to experience the glory of the living God
Exodus 33:17-21 17 And the Lord said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name. 18 And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory. 19 And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.
At times I have fallen short of Gods perfect plan and His glorious presence can seem to be so distant. Thank the Lord however for His mercy and the work of the Spirit that will take us back to our heavenly throne room.
In order to accomplish this though, we have to use His methods and ways, not ours.
1 Cor. 1:27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.
STUDY VERSES
Let’s look at two important scriptures in Romans. Romans 8:26-27
Romans 8:26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.
The groans that words cannot express is what is called our prayer language. Please take the time to read I Cor. 14 via the site map-Baptism of the Holy Spirit-Tongues in scripture. In I Cor. 12:10 & 28, Paul mentions that there are ‘different types of tongues’. This means that tongues can be used in different ways. As explained in I Cor. 14 the Holy Spirit uses our prayer language to participate in prayer Ephesians 6:18
When we use our prayer language (tongues from man to God I Cor. 14:2), the Word says we have a Heavenly Partner helping in our prayer
-with the Spirit praying, our prayers enter into a divine compassion and concern that far exceeds anything described by human words Romans 8:26 the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.
-The Spirit takes our weakness and limited understanding of the heavenly purpose of God and makes our prayers Godlike, because they are spoken from the Holy Spirit to God.
Vs 26 the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for.
When we pray in our native tongue and the prayer language (I Cor. 14:15) two things can happen.
1) Our request enter the heart of the Father by means of the Holy Spirit. We do not know how we ought to pray literally changes into the Spirit ‘capturing’ our prayers and presenting them to the Father with full Divine love and authority.
2) The intensity of prayer can be ‘off the charts’ (with groans words cannot express). Whenever God is involved in a divine experience, mans reaction is always in total awe.
(Ex. 33:18-20, Isa. 6:5, Rev. 1:17)
We all have had the times when our prayers seem to be ‘bouncing’ right back to us. Using your prayer language will bring an intensity and compassion from the Lords’ throne room See related articles-Baptism of the Holy Spirit. It is true –words cannot express! the majesty of Gods’ love. One of Paul greatest desires for the church is ‘that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, Ephesians 1:18
As I Cor. 14:15 states, we should apply both methods of prayers to God.
1 Cor. 14:15 So what shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind;
NEXT STUDY VERSE
Romans 8:27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will.
When the Spirit and the Father communicate with each other (vs. 26) our representative the Holy Spirit is talking to the God in a heavenly language.
Let’s see what happens. The Father searches our hearts as we pray. He not only considers our prayers, but receives the Holy Spirits intense request.
When we are using our prayer language the Father knows the intimate prayer of His Spirit or- the mind of the Spirit.
A divine ‘communion’ is taking place between the Father and the Holy Spirit. We participate in this holy interaction. While we may not understand what is being spoken, as in 2 Peter 1:21, we are ‘carried away’ with a deep conviction and love for those we are praying for. As Jesus followed the will of the Father, the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will. The Holy Spirit has the Divine ability to break Satan’s barriers and present your prayers to the Father in ‘Holy Agreement!’ Jesus declares the results when the Father and His children walk in one heart-
For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, to your amazement he will show him even greater things than these John 5:20.
Truly, truly, I say unto you, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. John 14:12 (and I will send the Spirit to you from the Father in heaven John 15:26)
The Father, Son and the Spirit have a holy intimacy and love between each other. (2 Pet. 1:17, John 16:13-15) Beloved, the Holy Spirits love for you and your request is now matched with the love between the divine Family of God. In this communion, the Father is also pleased with you because you have humbled yourself to allow His family to accomplish His purpose. The experience leaves you with an awesome reality of His love for those who desperately need Him. If you sincerely pursue this type of prayer, your life’s desire will be to pray like Jesus…
He offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the One who could save Him from death, and He was heard because of His reverent submission. Heb. 5:7
This conviction is also demonstrated by Paul. He had such a desire for the lost when he prayed, he would want to become cursed ‘take the eternal punishment of hell’ for the sake of the lost Romans 9:3.
When Gods heavenly compassion for others enters your spirit, you will have a greater purpose in your heart than what man could ever say or do. Creation began with the purpose of God sharing His love and glory and will continue for eternity. Talking, teaching and preaching about God without being drawn to His throne (with the help of the Holy Spirit-praying in tongues) is in essence ‘cutting out’ His divine representative. I am saddened that many churches (including some Pentecostal ones) are not humbled enough to receive this truth.
As usual, God is attempting to give us His glorious riches and we replace this for ‘our’ best. Communion with God brings life. We cannot replace His prayer with loud, long or any other type of request that does not include His intercessor, the Holy Spirit. Jesus says
John 5:19 “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing.
How much more do we need His heavenly revelation in our life. This can come only through His method of prayer.
His Greatest Gift for Believers-Final Note
The Father has sent His divine representative to be ‘grafted’ within us (Ephesians 1:13), to teach us all things and to comfort us (John 14:26).
Beloved, we have the greatest teacher and friend abiding in our spirit. If we use Gods Instructor, His Spirit will be at your side whispering Gods truths in your heart and ear. He will inspire you with divine insight, saying ‘let’s go to the Father and together we will have the King of the universe answer you’. As in I Cor. 14:13-14 we can ask for an interpretation of His words and you will be in awe of His endless love for those you pray for. At times, the Spirits compassion for those you bring to Him will indeed cause rivers of tears to touch the Fathers throne. We cannot leave the Holy Spirits voice out of our prayers. I need Him, He is the most beautiful presence in all of our prayers.
Friends, we must set our hearts toward prayer! We all have our shortcomings, mine at times are greater than others. We cannot however spend years and decades abiding in a dark world and spend so little time with God. I am amazed at Christians who fully understand the horrific pain of eternal hell to those who have not come to the cross-and yet casually pray for their loved ones as they would for a meal. ‘Reality TV’ is pressed far more upon their hearts than the reality of eternal punishment for family and friends blinded by the ruler of this age. (2 Cor. 4:4)
It breaks my heart to see devoted believers spending more time crying out to God for other believers children than many do for their own! We need to break away for the world and grab a hold of His Spirit as one. Unite with the Holiest friend God will ever seal within your heart (Ephesians 1:13) . We have to fight Satan and darkness with the power of the Holy Spirit. The fight is real- and to those in danger the results will be eternal!
Ephesians 6:18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be watching and always keep on praying for all the saints.
